Today Eric and I tackled the mess left behind the shed (where the door used to be) where we lifted three paving slabs. There was a lot of builders sand and old bits of concrete left there. Now it's a lovely extension of the bed alongside it, between the path and the patio.
This is the amount of Bastard Weed and concrete/rocks we took out of the 3x6 foot space!
Tiring work! (That shopping basket wasn't stolen by me by the way - it was in the shed when we took over the allotment!)
Also wanted to share my lovely bonsai oak tree, which is looking splendid just now - it's about 15 years old.
And finally look at all the lovely things which are starting to grow!
Pumpkins - ready for halloween!
Four different courgette varieties
Sunflowers
Romanesco Cauliflower

Unfortunately the sunflower at top left got nibbled off by something, and I don't think it's going to recover. But that is the peril of gardening.
We had two crows there today, and they certainly got through a lot of peanuts! The wee birds have also been using the bird feeder, which is nice. As a bonus, there was an abundance of buttercup along the path today :)
